Purple Passion/DV8

I really wanted to love this shop and have a great experience buying lots of cool things. I believe in the importance of having brick and mortar kink-friendly stores and supporting small businesses, and I was really excited to purchase some fun play gear. That excitement deflated quickly when multiple sales associates seemed disinterested in helping me. I am a shy person, and I asked for help three times from three different people. I made it clear I wanted to try on clothes, but beyond just pointing me towards where things are located, I received no help. Two of them on the floor seemed annoyed that I was interrupting a casual conversation they were having. I gave up asking for help, and decided to peruse on my own and gathered eight items to try in the fitting room. I am new to latex and corsets and kink wear, and grabbed items that would normally fit me in traditional sizes (I am usually a medium, but have a bigger chest). None of the items fit. At this point, a new sales associate I hadn’t met before offered to measure me for a corset and brought me two that he said were my size, before disappearing. He seemed the most genuine in trying to help, but I never saw him after that. I tried the corsets on but they didn’t fit either. (Perhaps there was user error on my part, but again, no one was there to help me.) I was so excited to shop here, but feel completely deflated by the unwelcome atmosphere and experience. I would love to give this place another chance with the right help, but otherwise may stick to online shopping for my play outfits.

Incredible selection and better people. Went with a friend yesterday and we left with more bags than my eyes have when I’m writing a brief on a deadline. Gear was superb, from rubber aprons to thigh cuffs, wildly cool electro play sets in metal briefcases — they combine the functionality and the aesthetic in a tip-top way. Just an amazingly knowledgeable and kind staff as well.

Hands down the best shop in NYC, arguably the tri-state area. Incredible quality, super competent and helpful advice, and the owner is such a delight. No qualms here whatsoever, nothing weird or regrettable. Fully endorse Purple Passion / DV8 with no reservations; it is one of the best shops you will ever visit. Thank you for being great!

This is the best shop in the city. Go! If you open your eyes, you will find something you like. They have everything, from shoes, latex, leather, PVC, chains, Bondage, lace, collars, a huge array of ‘hitty’ impact toys, vibrators, plugs, restraints, rope, collars, cuffs, etc… . They are super helpful. They are real. Don’t be shy. There is no shame here. Just ask! No one will bite… if you are afraid of that, they can show you the gags. :) Shop Purple Passaion so we can still have places that let us try things and help us learn. Have fun!

Visited during a trip and had a great experience! Employee at bag check was great and helped ease my concerns about leaving my bag up front, and everyone working there had a great attitude. Lots of products in different price ranges (I even spotted some Lip Service and Tripp NYC) and the “pay pig” tip jar was a cute bonus! Would definitely shop here again💕
